Our Work Changes People and Things.
Our vision is to transform the unwanted into something of value. Learn how we make what matters in Kansas City.
ScrapsKC had already diverted over 12 tons of materials from the landfill by the time it launched in September 2016.
Reuse and Repurpose
We know that there is more than one way to use an object. Our store is filled with unique and colorful materials just waiting to be creatively reused.
Education
We believe that learning is for everyone and new things can be learned every day through experiences. Learn about our homeless community and ways to support their needs. We also believe all children should have necessary supplies to learn. Through our school supply drive and Teacher Resource Center program, we continue to provide new and repurposed school supplies to teachers in our community.
Awareness
Learn more about creative reuse and homelessness by visiting our store. We look forward to helping you gain awareness about needs in our community. We always have sock kits available for anyone to take when visiting the store. Each kit is filled with essential items for the season a and packaged so it is easy to pass out to an unhoused community member.
School Supply Drive
Each year we capture gently used school supplies from schools that would otherwise throw them away. We clean supplies all summer and gift them to teachers who need them for their classrooms! Get your school involved in collecting and donating supplies with us by filling out the google form and we will send you more information.

Provide volunteer opportunities
Homeless volunteer manpower to maintain and improve ScrapsKC and clean and repurpose donated school supplies for redistribution to classrooms in disadvantaged communities.
Offer survival care
In exchange for their hard work, our homeless volunteers receive a homemade meal, in addition to dignity and survival items to help them get through another day.
Share with them on the streets
ScrapsKC also works directly with the homeless on the streets and excess dignity and survival donations will be shared with those in dire need.
